Cain Machine Company

Cain Machine Company located in Millville, New Jersey, was looking for ways to improve quality and profitability as well as expand the diversity of its business. At present, they machine a variety of products for a select base of repeat clients.

New Jersey MEP contacted Cain Machine Company and took them through a QuickView™ Assessment which indicated the need for better information flow and operational / output documentation. The Field Agent then suggested ISO 9000 certification, so that they could address both their internal organizational process needs and begin competing in new markets.

"While we knew we needed to make some changes, it was unclear how or where to start. With the help of NJMEP, our company is quickly moving toward becoming a more profitable, productive and competitive organization," said Douglas Cain, a partner in Cain Machine Company.

Cain agreed to begin the ISO 9000 process and worked with the New Jersey MEP Field Agent to complete an ISO 9000 Gap Analysis. The analysis allowed Cain to examine their current operational state versus what is required by ISO 9000 Registrar to be certified as ISO 9000 compliant. As they have undergone each of these assessments, Cain has been able to begin the transition to increased productivity and profitability.

Presently, the New Jersey MEP is working with Cain on achieving ISO 9000 certification.

"Without a doubt, NJMEP is a resource that every manufacturer should take advantage of. Since they are a non-profit, their only motive is to help small manufacturers improve. Truly, they are an unbiased advocate for our interests. We have felt the improvements already," stated Cain.
