Bob Tomkins brings the intangibles and understanding of a successful professional with a diverse background from industrial sales, computer programming and standup comedy.

Bob Tomkins has a computer programming background of over a dozen years that began as he was contracted out to AT&T Corporate Marketing Division during AT&T’s divestiture. Then, at Chase Manhattan Bank, Bob developed an Automated Voice & Data Communication System in the mid-1980’s. As a programmer/analyst, he established systems and operations contingency strategy for Chase’s Lockbox System. His computer career culminated as the Project Leader of R&D MIS for Bowne & Co., the largest financial printer in North America, where he coordinated and implemented MIS strategy between Corporate Marketing and R&D.

During the early 1990’s, while still working in NYC, Bob began performing stand-up comedy at most of the local comedy clubs of that time. Although not a financial success, the comedy propelled Bob to better utilize his excellent interpersonal skills and outgoing nature to change careers in 1996 from computer programming into a successful industrial sales career.

Bob Tomkins began selling industrial weighing equipment to various New Jersey manufacturing and industrial accounts while at Integrated Industrial Systems. He then managed the Northeast states for Willett America providing documented ROI for his customers through product identification solutions such as industrial ink jet date coders and label printer applicators.

Prior to joining NJMEP, Bob was the NY/CT sales rep for Olympus, the world’s premier manufacturer of optical equipment for the industrial, medical and consumer markets. Bob was involved in the complex sale of capital equipment such as videoscope, fiberscope, borescope and high-speed video camera systems to various industrial and governmental organizations. This industrial sales background has allowed Bob to understand the myriad of challenges that various manufacturers face and the opportunities that await them.

Bob Tomkins attended the University of Richmond in Virginia for two years before transferring to Rider College in Lawrenceville, NJ where he received a BS in Commerce.
