Swenson Company, Inc. Achieves
ISO 9001:2000 Registration
Newark, New Jersey – Swenson Company Inc., a plastic’s industry leader, located in Raritan, New Jersey has achieved ISO 9001:2000 Registration. Lloyds of London audited Swenson and found the company to be fully compliant with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 standard. Victor Swenson, President of Swenson Company stated, “I feel confident that the ISO designation will enable us to enter new markets and further grow the business.”
V.H. Swenson, Jr. founded this 25-person company in 1945. Swenson manufactures injection molded plastic parts for a variety of industries including: automotive, electronic, pharmaceutical, food packaging and industrial components. The company has earned a reputation for being customer focused, highly responsive and competitive.
In partnership with the New Jersey Department of Labor, New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP), a National Institute of Standards and Technology Manufacturing Extension Partnership network affiliate (NIST MEP) and Prism eSolutions, Swenson Company completed the nine-month program to achieve ISO Registration. “This further demonstrates our commitment to delivering the highest quality injection molded plastic parts and I am quite proud of our accomplishment and our team’s effort”, explained Victor Swenson.
NJMEP provided a quality ISO implementation program that managed all aspects of the implementation and registration. Prism eSolutions was the ISO 9000 implementation resource. New Jersey Department of Labor Office of Customized Training assisted Swenson in funding the program.
Swenson expects to have a 35% sales gain as well as cost reductions of approximately $20,000 and improved productivity by 20%. Continuous improvement practices put in place during the ISO program are a standard at the company. Other benefits include improved internal systems and future development of sales and marketing programs.
New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. has assisted more than 800 manufacturers with 1,350 projects in over 5 years! New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP), a not-for-profit organization, provides small and medium-sized manufacturers with access to technology and business management tools. The program, which was modeled on the Agriculture Extension Program, utilizes Field Agents assigned by county to enhance a manufacturer’s ability to take advantage of New Jersey Manufacturing Program’s network of academic and private resources. New Jersey’s MEP has been in existence for over five years, however the program has been in place nationally since 1988 and boasts a total of 75 centers across the country with at least one in every state. NJMEP has provided help to over 800 New Jersey manufacturers with industrial modernization or business management experience since its inception.
