New Jersey MEP makes Top and Bottom Line
Impact on a Small NJ Manufacturer
"FPI Thermoplastic Technologies will be a stronger company as a consequence of a partnership with the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP) leading to a greater profitability and creation of additional employment in Morris County,"
stated Mr. M. Sebastian Murray, President and CEO, FPI Thermoplastic Technologies.
FPI Thermoplastic Technologies is a Morristown-based small manufacturer of injection molded plastic products. FPI has been in the business of custom and proprietary molding for over 30 years. FPI employs about 150 people, and owns its 83,000 sq. ft. processing and office facility. The molding business is extremely competitive requiring aggressive sales and cost control programs to drive profitability and growth.
FPI's Consumer Product Division markets proprietary products including cosmetic bag and bath and sewing organizers. Their key customers include WalMart, Target, and Bed, Bath and Beyond.
New Jersey MEP first accompanied the Morris Area Development Group, an NJMEP partner, on their visit to FPI in November 1998 to brief Sebastian Murray about various State and County resources available to support their business.
NJMEP and FPI have worked together since that first meeting on alliances and acquisitions -- in order to assist FPI in becoming a high performance enterprise and to drive their business growth at a 15 - 20 % rate in the very competitive injection molding market.
New Jersey MEP has already helped FPI negotiate the acquisition of a molding company which will increase FPI's annual sales by $ 3 MM. New Jersey MEP continues to play a vital role in supporting FPI's improvement programs. Moreover, FPI recently attended the 1999 National Manufacturing Summit, in Washington, DC, where they learned about programs and techniques that will help them to continue to increase their productivity and reduce their costs.
FPI working together with NJMEP and its alliance partners is an excellent example of how NJMEP is helping small manufacturers in the Garden State increase their revenues and profits!
