Revitalize Your Company With Lean Manufacturing

Lean Manufacturing tools and training enables you to do more and achieve more with less while keeping your customer’s needs as the core of your business model. Lean Manufacturing strategies have cut an average of 20% of the time, effort, or costs associated with the production process.

Ask yourself…
  • Are your customers happy? Are they brand-loyal?
  • Are you unable to manufacture more, earlier, and faster than required by your customer?
  • Does production stop when an employee is away, or parts are out of stock?
  • Do you need to improve the value added by each employee on the shop floor?
  • Are you missing on-time delivery?
  • Are batch sizes much larger than consumption rates?
  • Do you have to re-work produced good frequently?

If you answered “Yes”, NJMEP’s Lean Manufacturing is the solution.

What is Lean Manufacturing?

Lean Manufacturing is a process by which an organization eliminates waste while meeting its customers’ needs by producing what they want, when they need it. This applies throughout an organization’s manufacturing processes—to the key growth areas of your business; improving cash flow, increasing efficiency, greater throughput, eliminating set-up steps, reducing inventory, and speeding up delivery. The Lean Manufacturing process focuses on how an organization works. It does not focus on the individuals but how they perform their tasks. It pays close attention to the flow of work as it passes from one hand to the next. The process identifies and eliminates waste,  at each point, maximizing the efficiency of the production process to achieve optimal performance.

The “Eight Wastes” that are either reduced or eliminated immediately through implementing Lean Manufacturing principles are:

   1. Downtime
   2. Excess Inventory
   3. Defects
   4. Under utilization
   5. Waiting
   6. Transportation
   7. Overproduction
   8. Non-Value Added Processing

How will my company benefit from becoming a Lean Manufacturer?
Lean Manufacturing principles improve inventory control issues, help companies meet customer demands, resolve capacity issues, meet delivery schedules, and solve other problems that are affecting a company’s ability to grow and compete. From a global perspective, competitive threats from overseas and lack of ISO certification can also be effectively addressed by implementing Lean Manufacturing principles.

Lean programs lead to:

  • Higher Profits
  • Greater Productivity
  • Increased Sales
  • Improved Quality
  • Greater Throughput
  • Reduced Costs
  • Better Cash Flow
  • Improved Employee Morale
  • Faster Speed-to-Market

Lean is not a destination, but rather a journey of continuous improvement and renewal. While companies experience dramatic results early on, the longer Lean Manufacturing principles are followed, the greater the benefits will be.
