New Jersey Manufacturers Impacted By Sandy Are Getting Assistance
Morris Plains, N.J., November 10, 2012 —The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP) has been working with many Garden State Manufacturers to create a list of capabilities and services that are available to assist those manufacturers that have been impacted by Sandy.
Currently NJMEP has a growing and workable list of resources.
Companies throughout the state have responded to a request to assist fellow manufacturers. John W. Kennedy, NJMEP COO explained, “NJMEP’s objective is to create a Lessons-Learned Database – where NJMEP can connect “those in need” with “those that have” while also creating a more in-depth and useful Disaster Contingency Plan for NJ Manufacturers”

NJMEP Staff are facilitating this effort, and working on ways to vet the information.
Working round the clock, NJMEP reached out to 6,900 firms via – eBlasts, Phone Conversations and Site Visits. 420 manufacturers reported Power, Communications, and Water issues—the most difficult being Electrical Services. NJMEP is working with them to resolve issues that prevent them from operating.
NJMEP’s outreach identified firms offering to provide capacity for:
- Machining – including CNC
- Welding
- Metal Forming
- Injection Molding
- Printing
Other manufacturers have been hooked up with firms that provide:
- Generators
- Roofers, Electricians, and Plumbers
- Motor & Machine Repair
- Facility Capacity & Storage
