Headquartered in South Bound Brook, New Jersey, Tri-Tech Tool & Design Co., Inc. (Tri-Tech) specializes in the production of plastic molded components, prototypes and plastic injection molds. Brothers, Art and Bill Weber Sr. founded this 28-person company in 1981 and have grown the business to a multi-million dollar company. Tri-Tech manufactures products for a variety of industries including: medical device, construction, plumbing and cosmetics. The company has earned a reputation for their total dedication to customer service and quality.
Tri-Tech indicated an interest in ISO 9000 compliance when contacted by the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP), a National Institute of Standards and Technology Manufacturing Extension Partnership network affiliate (NIST MEP). NJMEP worked with Tri-Tech to prioritize their programs and presented Tri-Tech with a plan for them to become ISO 9001:2000 registered. Using the teamwork approach of the New Jersey Department of Labor’s Office of Customized Training Grant program, NJMEP Field Agent Joe Mastrianni’s expertise in implementing ISO in the plastics industry, as well Prism eSolutions, an ISO 9000 implementation resource, Tri-Tech went through the process of becoming ISO compliant.
Bill Weber Jr., Tri-Tech Vice President of Engineering states, “The ISO program has been valuable from a complete business point-of-view. Through the use of the principles contained in the standard we were able to recognize several areas in the way we conduct business which we were able to improve.
ISO compliance has been integral in marketing our company as well. We find there are more opportunities available to bid that we would have been previously excluded from before compliance with the standard.
Over the past three years Tri-Tech has seen significant growth culminating the opening of second manufacturing facility in Middlesex. Our second facility is largely automated utilizing state of the art technology and equipment.”
Vice President of Production, Jason Weber explains, “ISO implementation has provided our production floor with additional checks and audits to ensure that we are consistently meeting the demands of our customers.”
Since ISO 9000 implementation, Tri-Tech has realized a 5% reduction in costs, as well as a 99% retention of existing sales. Sales have increased of by roughly 40% and the company has reinvested over $750,000 in new plant equipment. In addition, Tri-Tech has added 5 full time jobs and has retained all previously existing positions.
“Tri-Tech looks forward to working with NJMEP in the future and to continue to grow our business in New Jersey. We would recommend NJMEP to other manufactures in New Jersey”, stated Art Weber, President.
