This workshop provides an experiential introduction to the art of problem solving.

• Defining the steps in the problem solving and decision making process
• Sources of difficulties in problem identification
• Tools for problem identification
• Tools for problem analysis
• Determining and evaluating alternative solutions
• Tools to enhance creativity in problem solving
• What to do after the decision to implement a solution is made
• The human side of problem solving
• Who should be involved in the problem-solving, decision-making process
• The role of statistical analysis in solving technical problems

At the completion of this course, the employee should be able to:

• Describe the relationship between problem solving skills and decision making
• Describe the steps in decision-making
• Identify obstacles to accurate problem identification
• Create a Pareto analysis, Force field
