SUMMARY:Food Defense Online (June 2020)
DESCRIPTION:Food Defense is the effort to protect food from acts of intentional adulteration. The FDA issued the final rule in May 2016 on mitigation strategies to protect food against “Intentional Adulteration”\, which requires applicable facilities to formulate and implement food defense plans. The purpose of the food defense plan is to prevent food products being adulterated from any source inside or outside the company. Such acts intended to cause wide-spread harm to public health\, including but not limited to acts of terrorism intending to target food supply\, could cause illness\, death and economic turmoil to the food supply. Implementing an effective food defense plan will allow for the prevention\, protection against\, mitigation\, response time and recovery from any intentional adulteration of our food supply. Furthermore\, food defense is already a requirement for all GFSI accredited Food Safety Management Systems (SQF\, BRC etc.).

SUMMARY:Six Sigma Black Belt Certification Training (July-September 2020)
DESCRIPTION:“Take your career to the next level with Six Sigma Black Belt certification and training from NJMEP. With Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification you will be qualified to lead project teams and manage process improvement initiatives.\nThe NJMEP Black Belt course is an advanced management level program that will prepare you to manage project teams. No-prior experience needed; the program will cover preceding material from Six Sigma Green Belt certification.\nSix Sigma is a statistical measure of quality\, 3.4 defects per million or 99.99966% good quality. Although zero defects are the goal\, as a measure Six Sigma will drive an organization toward achieving high levels of customer satisfaction while reducing operational costs. Six Sigma is considered a well-defined problem-solving methodology which focuses on customer requirements through the use of fact based\, data driven\, and statistical tools. A core part of Six Sigma is the DMAIC method – Define\, Measure\, Analyze\, Improve\, & Control used to solve challenging business problems. The DMAIC method utilizes formal project chartering\, data collection\, and statistical analysis to select the right opportunity\, implement the most appropriate improvements\, and sustain the improvements over the long term.\nIn this 12-day course attendees will master the use of the Six Sigma approach to quantify the critical quality issues in the company. The Philosophy of Six Sigma recognizes that there is a direct correlation between the number of product defects\, wasted operating costs\, and the level of customer satisfaction.\nThis course will prepare students to take the *ASQ Black Belt Certification Training Test. This training is geared towards Engineers and Manufacturing Management professionals who understand Six Sigma philosophies and principles\, including the supporting systems and tools. All students will receive a certificate of completion from NJMEP. All students must bring a laptop equipped with excel or minitab.\n*Additional ASQ testing would be required with applicable fees. “
