Manufacturers Needed For NGM Study
NJMEP is asking NJ manufacturers to participate in the 2011 Next Generation Manufacturing Study. The study will identify competitive performances and corporate best practices for achieving world-class status in the 21st century. Manufacturers must complete the survey by July 25th, 2011. Read more.

Stryker Orthapaedics and Unionwear Participate In (CIANJ) Manufacture Roundtable
The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey’s (CIANJ) first official Manufacturing Roundtable, which was dedicated to Lean manufacturing was chaired by NJMEP client Stryker Orthopaedics Vice President of Operations Fred Lorestani. Guest speakers included Stryker Orthopaedics Operations Engineer Jayesh Deshpande, Stryker Performance Solutions Lean Solutions Manager Stephen Weller and Unionwear President and CEO Mitch Cahn, also an NJMEP client. NJMEP, Bob Loderstedt was also a guest speaker.
HK Metalcraft Introduces Students To Manufacturing
Raymond Hopp, president of HK Metalcraft, knows the importance of manufacturing as a career opportunity for today’s students. Working with Clifton’s Board of Education Commissioner Michael Paitchell, Clifton Schools Superintendent Richard Tardalo, the staff of the Clifton Schools, as well NJMEP, on June 14, HK Metalcraft hosted 60 Clifton students from 7th through 11th grade, along with teachers, guidance counselors and parents. Fire Damages Absecon Mills
Absecon Mills experienced a fire in April that put them off line for a while. They are, however, well on their way to resuming fully staffed double shifts. Absecon Mills, which opened in 1978, is one of the area’s largest manufacturers. The company produces 5 million yards of yarn per year.
