Change Management (Jan 2020)

This workshop explores the theory, practice, and strategies of implementing change in organizations.
Participants will:

• Learn the difference between change and transition and become familiar with the intellectual and emotional components of change
• Learn about paradigms and how they can inhibit the implementation of change
• Be able to define the characteristics of individuals who are exceptionally adaptable to change
• Learn how behavior styles can support or derail individuals during various stages of the change process
• Understand why people are resistant to change and what strategies can be utilized to reduce that resistance
• Be able to describe strategies for minimizing the impact of change on the organization

Topics covered include:

• The only thing constant is change: why we can’t just keep doing it the way we’re doing it now
• The change process: the three phases of change, what you can expect, and what you won’t know
• Paradigms: how they can help and how they can hurt; thinking outside the box
• Behavioral styles and change: why the change process isn’t the same for everyone
• Resistance to change: why it occurs, and strategies for handling resistance
• Organizational culture: what is it, and how can it encourage or inhibit change?
• Key principles for leading change initiatives

Exercises and simulations allow participants to practice various techniques and strategies discussed in class. Each participant will complete a behavioral assessment and receive a Change Management workbook.

Participants will gain a better understanding of how change impacts organizations and learn effective strategies for creating a change-capable workforce.
