NJMEP is a not-for-profit that enhances the competitiveness of New Jersey’s manufacturers through programs and services that increase profitability, efficiency and productivity.
As Director of Marketing, Okun will set the marketing strategies that strengthen NJMEP’s position as a champion of New Jersey manufacturing. The marketing veteran is responsible for ensuring a consistent NJMEP brand experience across all consumer touch points. He will oversee brand marketing, NJMEP.org and digital ecosystem, public relations, social media, marketing communications and advertising.
“NJMEP is very excited to add someone with Peter’s depth of marketing knowledge and experience to its team. We are confident that he will carry out our promise to provide high value solutions to advance the economic prosperity of New Jersey’s manufacturing community,” said John W. Kennedy, CEO of NJMEP.
Okun comes to NJMEP with more than 20 years of marketing experience. He most previously served as the Vice President of Marketing for Liberty Travel and has held senior leadership roles with highly recognized education and travel brands over the course of his career.
Prior to joining NJMEP, the marketing professional has additionally created a Job Readiness and Life Skills Workforce program designed to help the unemployed who are motivated to work. This multi-dimensional program provides specific training in resume and cover letter development, interviewing skills, and how to identify, obtain and retain a job. Okun received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in International Business from Ramapo College of New Jersey.
NJMEP’s services are geared towards helping state manufacturers increase sales, reduce costs, improve efficiencies and spur job creation. The organization is chartered by The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), a network of nearly 60 MEP centers across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Since 2000, NJMEP has helped manufacturers realize more than $3.1 billion in value: $2.3 billion in increased and retained sales, nearly $343.1 million in cost savings, $520.9 million in investments and approximately 26,000 jobs created or retained.
