NJMEP Hits $100,000 Milestone in Pledge to Support NJ’s Manufacturing Community

NJMEP Pledged $250,000 in Value as Part of its Year of Advocacy Program

The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP) has announced that it hit a $100,000 milestone in its pledge of $250,000 in value to New Jersey’s manufacturing community. The pledge is part of NJMEP’s “Year of Advocacy” program and comes through the form of various initiatives and programs that directly support New Jersey’s manufacturers.

NJMEP made the official announcement at its Open House on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 surrounded by members of the New Jersey manufacturing community. As part of the proclamation, attendees signed a “2014-2015 Year of Advocacy for NJ Manufacturing” banner.

“We are excited to hit this milestone and look forward to completing the pledge,” says Tony DeSantis, NJMEP’s Senior Vice President. “As a community, we have to support NJ manufacturing. We’re home to over 9,100 manufacturing establishments, and more than 247,000 workers are employed through manufacturing,”

NJMEP has worked with allies and expert business partners throughout the year to create new programs and offerings for NJ’s manufacturers at no charge.

One example is the Experience Manufacturing program, which is designed to address the shortage of skilled workers available in the Garden State. NJMEP collects the open positions of New Jersey manufacturers and serves as a bridge to young adults who are looking to explore a career in the field. The program has been connecting manufacturers to top talent at no cost.

NJMEP has also been offering complimentary training days and workshops in various topics critical to manufacturers such as Lean and ISO certifications. Industry symposiums and scheduled plant tours for students will also be available through the Year of Advocacy program. NJMEP will also provide process and facility assessments for New Jersey manufacturers at no cost. New initiatives will be announced throughout the year.

“Manufacturing is one of the biggest contributors of our state’s economy. We are looking to support the businesses that improve our economy and shape a positive perception of the industry,” adds DeSantis.

NJMEP is a not-for-profit that helps New Jersey’s manufacturers become more profitable. NJMEP’s services are geared towards assisting state manufacturers increase sales, reduce costs, improve efficiencies and spur job creation. The organization is chartered by The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), a network of more than 60 MEP centers across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
