Pre-Cut Melon Linked to Salmonella

The FDA is urging consumers in eight states to pause and check their precut melon before eating. Though reasons remain uncertain, an outbreak of Salmonella directly tired to these products have swept the states and have left more than thirty-one people hospitalized.

The recall was initiated on Friday by Food Manufacturer Caito Foods LLC, a subsidiary of SpartanNash Co. Recalled products include fresh-cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and fresh-cut mixed food products. According to reports, recalled products were distributed to Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio.
