Recap: ExporTech™ Intensive Conferences through MarketShift
On June 3rd and 4th, DOD suppliers from around New Jersey gathered to participate in ExporTech™ Intensive conferences. The program was held at The Enterprise Center in Mount Laurel, NJ.
ExporTech™ Intensive conferences were made available to DOD suppliers at no cost through the MarketShift Program. MarketShift is sponsored by the U.S. government and presented by NJMEP in partnership with NJIT. The program includes scholarships and discounts to help NJ manufacturers impacted by sequestration.
Recap of the Program:
The program brought together industry leaders to help NJ manufacturers develop a strategic plan for exporting. 95% of the world’s customers live outside the U.S., so exporting provides a critical opportunity for organizations to grow sales. The program includes a two-day, education and planning process designed to help manufacturers diversify their customer base through global sales. Over the course of two days, a unique combination of expert speakers, planning tools, individual coaching and small group discussions allowed companies to respond to their own unique challenges.
By the end of the sessions, companies had a way to jumpstart the development of an actionable, strategic-export-growth plan. This included the development of a robust, step-by-step, time-saving, and risk-reducing export strategy. Participants were enabled to network with both Federal & State officials who assisted them with identifying and connecting with off-shore partners/customers. Attendees learned the proper procedures for researching and targeting their optimal overseas market(s) and customers and mastered the fundamentals of export logistics (international freight, customs, paperwork, etc.) & finance (international banking procedures, letters-of-credit, etc.).
